Meanwhile in CA: State Legislators Force Publicly Traded Companies to Hire Women on their Boards

California used to be an awesome state until Ronald Reagan. Actually, for our younger readers, you must learn that before the Reagan-era, California was a Red State. I bet you did not know that. Almost every Republican candidate won California in the presidential elections of the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties (except from Goldwater in 1964).

After Reagan was tricked by the “establishment” into passing amnesty for millions of illegals, California turned Blue like the deep blue sky, and remained Blue since for almost forty years and counting. Since Democrats took over, California became a socialist paradise of sorts, with welfare for all and also a sanctuary state. Taxes are increasing slowly, the middle class is fleeing the state, and the society is becoming increasingly polarized. Fortunately for Democrats, California still has a strong economy, both in terms of high-tech/big tech and agriculture, hence there’s going to take a while until “other people’s money” runs out.

Not constitutional. It’s sexual bias.

The constitution does not necessarily protect us from bias based on membership in a group (sex, race, etc.) when that bias is by a private entity. However it most definitely prevents government entities from doing it.

This shouldn’t survive a legal challenge.

Not that that means anything anymore.

There are lots of grievance groups that can be added to this mandate (e.g. blacks, transgenders, homosexuals, pygmies, lesbian pygmies, black female transracial transgender lesbian, etc.)

A partnership between State and business? Not where have I heard that before? I think some Italian guy back in the 30s was kind of into that idea.

There were several things that were turning CA Blue. Remember Prop 13 was passed in 78 because the Liberals had raised the property taxes into the stratosphere. Signing amnesty was just about the final nail in the coffin.
I think the final nail was Prop 287? Where illegals could not collect welfare. The people passed it, but the black robed gangsters killed it. IMHO that was the final straw.

If they regulate that they will regulate more. Get out while you can. Delaware has no such restrictions.

The idea of hiring for anything but competence and skill, is a bad idea. Look at Canada's uber-wimp Justin Trudeau....50% of his admin HAD to be women and they ended up with that moron NAFTA negotiator who draws smiley faces in her correspondence.

People just never learn about affirmative action crap.

So-called “affirmative-action” is anti-meritocracy. Is is unconstitutional and should be stooped.
