Facebook is gearing up for the upcoming midterm elections by building a physical “war room” in order to fight off “bad actors” who wish to influence voters.

Facebook’s head of civic engagement, Samidh Chakrabarti, told NBC in an interview published Tuesday that the company was in a better place than it was in 2016 in regards to fighting “misinformation” and “fake news.”

“I think we are in a much better place than we were in 2016. But it is an arms race. And so that’s why we’re remaining ever vigilant, laser-focused to make sure that we can stay ahead of new problems that emerge,” Chakrabarti said.

Yes, it is not to be mocked. It is a threat to American democracy. Facebook has no pretence of neutrality and should not be treated as a carrier of other people’s messages without consequences. This strategy of Facebook is nothing less than a contribution to the Democrat Party and its candidates.

Because sneaky Russian bots are the only source of pro-American, liberty-loving Facebook activity.

” Facebook’s head of civic engagement, Samidh Chakrabarti, ...”

Well, probably there just could be no one as well steeped in American culture, history and the United States Constitution as Samidh Chakrabarti.
Not that it would be important or anything.

To fight off bad actors? Puleaze.

Fakebook has already admitted to running psyop experiments on users by only putting negative news in their feeds.

Fakebook exerts thought control and IS a bad actor trying to influence public perceptions and elections.

If they are a common carrier:

“If your business is to carry things for others, you have certain legal obligations,” she says. Whether you’re a postal service delivering letters or a ferry delivering people, the basic obligation is “to serve upon reasonable request without unreasonable discrimination at a just and reasonable price and with adequate care.”

read:https://ting.com/blog/getting-straight-about-common-carriers-and-title-ii/

If they are a content provider, they are responsible for all content posted on their site.

Right now they are legally straddling the fence and you can’t have it both ways. This action pushes them hard to the side of being a content provider because they are controlling the content. That would mean they are responsible for every nutcase post.

I believe Facebook is making a mistake and will be open for lawsuits.

Big Tech openly colluded in 2016 to stop Trump.

Apple, Twitter, Google, Instagram collude to defeat Trump

We aren't FB's customers, their advertisers are.

We are their product.

True!

I think the principle still stands.
