That area was part of the Roman Empire (Ovid was exiled to Constanta, Romania, west end of the Black Sea), but was heavily settled by Greeks and (in Ovid's time) Scythians. Depending on the ethnic background, this bottle could have held retsina, or wine with pine resin, it's a very old Greek tradition.
