Gov. Brown needs to to veto this shameless bill. If lawmakers aren't interested in rubbing shoulders with the residents of their district, they have no business representing them
Just as the 2018 legislative session was winding down last week, California lawmakers sent Gov. Jerry Brown a bill that would allow them to live outside the districts in which they were elected and ostensibly represent.
Whats next? Mayors who dont have to live in the cities in which they were elected? City council members who do not have to live in their council districts?
Guess they don’t want to live in the s-holes they helped create.
Does California still have a law that requires fire and police to live in the city that they serve?
Maxine Waters Bill.....................
Enjoy your new absentee landlords, California!
What's next is the election itself.
proglibs very much want to "rule" by mere decree.
Like little bammy tried to...
.
I don’t think California ever had a law requiring fire and police to live in the city that they serve?
Maxine Waters won’t live in her district... why is anyone surprised by this?
Come on! These elitists shouldn’t have to live in the hell-holes they have helped create! These public servants should live in a fenced off enclave, safe from the rest of the human trash.
That must be the only thing that CA follows the US constitution. Neither Representatives nor Senators are required to live in the District nor State to be eligible for office.

I wonder if the president of mexico would be interested in being governor of california too. Hmmmmm...
NJ reps often live in Manhattan. This is one of the reasons this country is turning into Bolivia.
Hahaha.... I was just going to say that!
One of the great corruptions of the British Parliament was that Members of Parliament were not required to live in their constituency and, additionally, for many decades they did not redistrict. Hence, many seats in Parliament were planted in what became called, “Rotten Boroughs”. Due to population changes, some seats in Parliament represented literally, a few handfuls of voters. Those seats could be had with a modest investment in beer and whiskey and once controlled, they tended to remain in a family for generations. These people lived in London and acted in their own interests rather than for the interests of their district. This is California in essence today, and will be in fact and law very soon.
Their examples are not the same. City lines dont change. District lines change every 10 years. Do we expect them to move every 10 years?
I expect them to be out of office and let someone else represent the area.
