Skill, yes. Like I said, and per other posts, it’s doable. The majority of people are not going to be remotely accurate at that range though. The best they can hope for is making a mess, not “hunting”.
“doable” isn’t the way to describe it. If you CAN’T do it, you’re rocking a SBR or simply can’t shoot. It’s pretty easy, and I have picked off 2 coyotes and several hogs at comparable distances, plus a 6 pointer at 460~ with a British no.4 mk1 .303. an 80 year old rifle.
These are not even very long ranges. These are intermediate. LONG range is about 900 and up.
Disagree! Although 1951 is on the far edges of my memory, at P.I. we qualified with the world's "greatest battle weapon" at 600-yards from the prone position...
