And there is exactly the answer.By 2024, youd see at least three Supreme Court seats flipped over. - pepsionice
They know that Ginsberg is going to croak soon, Bryer is likely to leave or die. Those two departures would leave the democRATS with Kagan, and the "Wise Latina".
That is why the left is soooooo desperate to remove Trump.
We dont know for sure that Obama beat Romney fair and square. After all, we know that Obama thought he had the fix in for Hillary. How likely does it seem that he would have done less to beat Romney than he did to assure that Hillary would beat Trump??? IMHO the Democrats are so upset at Trump, in part, because they had made a policy decision that GWB would be the last Republican POTUS in history. And, predicated on that and in furtherance of that, the Democrats instituted the Reid Rule at the end of 2013 so that the (at the time, Democrat-majority) Senate would be able to confirm Obamas judicial appointments without any minority (Republican) ability to filibuster. That was a risky strategy because the filibuster was the tool Democrats had used to prevent the confirmation of any conservative justices to SCOTUS even when Republicans had the White House and a majority in the Senate. But hey - if theres never gonna be another Republican POTUS . . .
Now the Democrats face a perfect storm - a Republican POTUS committed to, and living up to, the nomination of SCOTUS justices who will enforce the Constitution, and an aggressive Republican Senate majority determined to confirm them. Worse, for them, the Republican economic policy is doing its job - and if Its the economy, stupid, the Democrats are shoveling against the tide.
Not to worry, right? Theres still the MSM - but What is Trump doing with his tweets????
You’re right...the democRATS never imagined that they would find themselves exactly where they are.
As you said, they had decided that they were going to end the republic and Republicans. The courts were their preferred method to implement their agenda because what they desired was so demented that the public would never vote for it, and an elected representative would never vote for it, and then have to face the voters.
Reid probably figured that the fix was in, and it was time to press the “nuclear option” button down.
