Greetings fellow freepers of all stripes and shades!
It's been a long long time since I last posted anything that was not fraught with frustration towards our "representatives" in congress or outright rage towards unelected government officials who have hijacked our constitutional republic.
Well, it's time to come up for air.
I am taking my oldest son (now 28) on a road trip that we had planned way back in 2009 but couldn't afford to because OBAMA.
We are going to be attending the Reno International Air Races from the 12th to the 16th. We'll be driving down tomorrow at OhMyGod-thirty and arriving in the early evening at our erstwhile base of operations, the Eldorado resort casino.
The Air Races have been on my bucket list for years, and since my son has grown up to be a fine Christian man, I am looking forward to his company as we finally get to drive through amazing country, watch some amazing planes and keep each other out of trouble (the "iron sharpens iron" principle).
If there are any freepers in the Reno area, it may be possible to get together one of the evenings while we are there. Drop me a mail if you are interested in meeting up.
Finally, I ask for your prayers for the Lord's blessing on our trip, for His protection as we travel, and the His work on our relationship.
I will post a journal if anyone is still interested in my ramblings.

We, on the other hand.... have selected an eastern seaboard vacation for our first trip in several years..... And it turns out that Hurricane Florence wants to be there at the same time! We might have to cancel or change plans...
Way off topic. One of my best memories is a road trip from Detroit to Georgia with my then 16 year old daughter.
Her pen pal died from a medical misadventure and my daughter wanted to attend her funeral.
We deadheaded down and got there just in time for the service.
After, we stood in line to greet her parents. I was worried that the other girl meant more to my daughter than my daughter meant to her.
Boy was I wrong. When our time came, I stepped back and my daughter introduced herself to the girls dad.
He sucked in a deep breath and wrapped my daughter up in a big hug and said “I can’t believe you came.”
It seemed everybody knew who my daughter the pen pal was.
She knows some people who write for Our Daily Bread. One of them was considering including the story in their daily devotional. It never got done though.
