As my tribute to the heros of 9/11, here's a link to Wikipedia's 9/11 timeline.
What is the official number killed on 9/11 ..
I have seen 2974 victims but earlier today 3042 listed?

sorry meant to post 2977 victims.
My personal timeline:
8:46 - My buddy Bill C, is talking on his cell phone on the 82nd floor. The ceiling caves in. He throws down his phone and heads for the emergency exit.
8:50: Ravi and Badri leave the office to have a look. They sneak past the police lines and stand in front of the Brooks Brothers store on Trinity Place, gaping up at the burning building.
8:55: I arrive on the #1 IRT at the Wall St station. I notice an unusual traffic pattern - people are running down the stairs and getting on the uptown train.
8:58: I am walking across the underground lobby in Chase Plaza. I run into Bill H, who tells me what has happened. We decide to go down to the basement cafeteria to watch on CNN.
9:03: the second plane hits. Piece of the plane and the building rain down; Badri and Ravi run for their lives, going north on Trinity Place.
9:10: Ilya G catches the last PATH train to New Jersey out of 33rd St.
9:30 Bill C reaches the 20th floor, where the people in wheelchairs are being staged. One woman is scared an want to leave; Bill and six other guys agree to carry her down the stairs.
9:35: Bill C and his group reach the 6th floor carry the crippled woman, and meet up with some firemen. The firemen take over carrying the woman down.
9:47 Bill C reaches the lobby and steps through a shattered window onto West St. He starts walking uptown, and wishes he had not tossed his cell phone.
9:59 WTC 2 collapses. Bill C is several blocks away, but is still buried in debris. Bill H and I watch on TV. We run up to the underground lobby. The outside is just a cloud of dust, and choking people are coming in through the revolving doors.
10:10 The dust has settled a little. Bill H and I decide it is safe to go out the back door. The dust is heavy, but we go down Maiden Lane and under Brooklyn Bridge. There we agree to split up.
10:30: I reach Chinatown. The sun is shining, and Chinese groceries are selling fish and sprouts as if nothing had happened. I am completely covered with dust, and buy a large Diet Pepsi.
11:00 I reach my apartment, take off my clothes, and shower. I then remember I should call Ilya G’s wife to tell her he got away safely. I get Ilya himself, who is already home, 50 miles away in NJ. We agree that Bill C could not possibly have survived.
During the September 11 attacks of 2001, 2,996 people were killed (including the 19 hijackers) and more than 6,000 others injured.[1][2] These immediate deaths included 265 on the four planes (including the terrorists), 2,606 in the World Trade Center and in the surrounding area, and 125 at the Pentagon.[3][4]
Very moving. Thanks.
But the other story appears to number 3042.
Got this from FR 17 years ago....

Heard today that some 80 plus Muslims were training on flight simulators.
If Bush hadn’t grounded all flights could you imagine? Sears tower was going to go down on their plan. (For us oldster that gave us “hugh and series.”)
And could you imagine if we didn’t have the Gorelick wall, the Presidential Decision Directive 24, thanks to the Bent One? This may have never happened.
Since 9-11 about 2000 have died from the exposure to the particulate matter they were covered with.
no idea who created this, the list was posted this morning.

I’m so sorry. I can’t even fathom.
It was a little upsetting, but none of my friends were killed or injured. Even the woman Bill C carried down survived; I believe she was the only disabled survivor.
And if you’re in action trying to save yourself, or even just get away, you don’t have time to do much thinking.
So Bill C lived after being buried in the rubble? What a timeline. Thanks for posting.
He was about five blocks north of the WTC, so when the wave of debris hit he was only knocked over and covered with several inches of dust. He got up, brushed himself off, and proceeded north at a more rapid pace.
Ilya called me several days later to tell me that Bill C had survived. Bill C used to work with us at 2 Chase Plaza, but he had taken a new job in the WTC.
Both Bill C and the woman he helped save later appeared on one of the 9/11 TV specials.
Thanks again for posting.
