We Put a Hand Over Our Heart, Nike Puts Thumb in Our Eye

It’s time to demonstrate that putting a thumb in the eye of middle America is not a cost–free exercise. If for no other reason than we’re running out of eyes

Failed NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick continues to stay culturally relevant by depending on the kindness of strangers. If it weren’t for white folks, beginning with his foster parents, Kaepernick might just be another player who peaked early and disappeared.

The first white person who bailed him out was — of all people! — President Donald Trump. Colin began his ‘take a knee, look at me’ protest with an example of bad timing that should have rendered him a joke from the beginning. He protested black “injustice” during Barack Obama’s second term.

nike figured that a lot of specially-privileged members of a government-certified victim group bought their sneakers and decided to slap in the face the people who actually go out to work to pay for those sneakers.

It was their choice. My choice is to never buy anything from nike.

You farted in the face of every patriot, Nike.

You crapped in the face of every heroic serviceman who has donned our flag to defend the nation.

You spat on every brave boy in blue who gets up in the morning knowing he will risk his life that day to protect his community.

You are FINISHED with me Nike.

The miami dolphins players have come out and said they aren’t dis’n service members? So what are they protesting and when was the last time someone protested without purposely trying to make someone uncomfortable? So who are these people trying to make uncomfortable if it isnt our service members, our law enforcment and fire fighting and rescue services?

“The miami dolphins players have come out and said they aren’t dis’n service members?”

How many times have I been told in diversity training that it is not up to you to decide what is offensive. It is up to the person that receives your message. More than I can count. Micro-aggression and all. So I am here to say Dull-fins, as a disabled retired Army Veteran, I AM OFFENDED. NIKE, I AM OFFENDED. Don't you dare try and tell me I don't have that right. I will never buy anything Nike again.

As an ex silent service member, I am also offenede by people who ignore, yap, sit but can stand and watch their phones while the national anthem is being played. Even the vendors stop what they are.doing at the local AA ball field. So yes , you don't get to decide whats offensive to me. I also don't watch the NFL and haven't bought nikes in a while. at least 5 years. and certainly won't be buying any clothing with the shasha on it.

When players protest the people who died to give them the right to protest, the only choice is to turn your back to them and walk away. People who continue to support them, by purchasing tickets or merchandise, are complicit.

I heard that the reason NIKE selected Kaempernick for their ad is that they couldn’t get Bowe Bergdahl...

Never bought or was given anything Nike. In the late 50[s I bought a pair of Converse as the Boston Celtics were the basketball team I liked. Later I bought Reeboks. Nike has nothing I’d ever buy.
