And let’s be honest, Jeff Sessions is probably a lib. Probably most long-term Republican senators are more liberal than their constituents who elect them simply because they have been influenced too long by the D.C. bubble. They probably try to hide it, but we can see their alliance with liberals by their failure to lead.

Oh come on... Sessions is not a lib.
The real problem is that Republicans are very conflicted when it comes to law enforcement.
On the one hand, the conservative red state voter base is pro law enforcement - they take the cop’s side vs black lives matter, they are pro ICE, Trump always thanks LE at his rallies and everyone cheers, and rightly so. They put their lives on the line to keep us safe.
On the other hand, there are plenty of crooked cops - everyone knows it’s true. Here on FR we are always talking about how crooked the FBI and the DOJ is.
So Trump is in a difficult spot politically - how do you explain to the American people that the FBI and DOJ are crooked without sounding anti law enforcement? If you sound anti law enforcement you start sounding like Obama or any other lib.
That’s why Trump has to be careful how all this corruption gets exposed - it’s got to be some bad apples - it can’t be an epidemic. I mean it probably IS an epidemic, but Trump can’t do a mass extermination and still keep his pro-law enforcement image.
You have to admit it’s a tough call. I think that Trump is restraining his own people, the “white hats” in the DOJ and FBI, and when we see that restraint, and look at how little is being done to put the bad guys in jail, we blame the white hats, and conclude they are part of the deep state.
I just think Trump has this under control, but he’s finessing it - and it’s driving some of his most blood thirsty supporters (like me) nuts.
I want to see some action, but I trust Trump’s judgment - it’s too soon to second guess and assume he’s been overwhelmed by the deep state.
I think the best indication is Trump’s demeanor. He just does not seem like a man who is beaten - it’s the opposite - he comes off as a player who is holding all the cards.
