It is more than seven decades since Korea was divided into North and South at the end of the Second World War - and since then life has become vastly different for those living either side of the border.
While the South has prospered economically under democracy while adopting all the facets of modern life, the North has remained isolated under a communist regime while placing great emphasis on tradition.
Now, the two countries are working on a plan to reunify once again with South Korean President Moon Jae-in due to meet Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang this week for the third round of peace talks this year.
As the leaders attempt to heal the wounds of the past, photographer Ed Jones has captured this fascinating series of images showing the differences and surprising similarities between life in the North and South....

1. The surface things, in the pictures, mask the very deep divisions and huge differemces underneath them. 2. Pyongyang is an atypical North Korean city, a government showcase so to speak, and huge parts of the country do not resemble Pyongyang at all; whereas most of South Korean cities are not much different than Seoul, in terms of lifestyle.
