So Independents poll strongly Republican this year but the Democrats are somehow winning the midterms? Please explain that to me.

The assumption might be that Dems are energized to vote in droves to stop Trump, and Republicans are demoralized.

Party out of power wins midterms.

Its a assumption that played well in 2006, 2010, 2014....but sometimes fails
