Vanity: Was Kavanaugh Trump's First Choice?
Sep 22, 2018 | Vanity

Posted on 09/22/2018 5:50:26 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

When news broke out that Brett Kavanaugh was Trump's pick to fill Justice Kennedy's seat, a few critics (including on FR) suggested that he was chosen as a nod to the Bush era and GOP establishment...

I am not saying that another pick would have had an easier process nor that Kavanaugh is guilty in the least! But I do wonder if Trump really went with his gut.

Sometimes his gut even leads him to side with the establishment, as in the case of the Alabama Senate primary between Luther Strange and Roy Moore. Trump endorsed Luther Strange...but the base went a different direction.

I have just learned to trust Trump's instincts when it comes to things like this...

I liked the Indian guy(name escapes me)——we could just holler “racism” any time he was criticized.

Yes, the ‘rats are trying to leverage #metoo fanaticism to derail the next male nominee (Kav happened to be next) — guilt by inference.

It doesn’t matter.

It’s an excellent choice.

They should just go ahead and confirm him ASAP.

Yup. Kavanaugh was actually my last. Barrett was my first and Thapar was 2nd. They go after the 2, they will look either racist and chauvinistic. The Dummycrats will have to go easy on Thapar because of the large India American voting bloc..

i dont know, but ease of nomination was probably a factor since they knew it’d be a fight no matter who they put up

I thing that 1/2 of them live in my building——good neighbors, though.

Just out of principle, no, never. Not until all Indian workers and families go home and so long as he would promise to never hire an Indian. Burned too much in IT by the Indian mafia.

Possibly not. If trump anticipated the circus now in progress and the failure of his first shot, he may have saved his real choice until after the first one is shot down. If it turns out to be the woman and he applies full heat he could still get get a really good Justice on before the election. If there is any chance that we will lose the Senate it is extremely important that we get our guy on the Court before it because after that there will be no more successful nominations and if the Democrats get both Houses then there will be impeachments of all the Conservative judges up and down the line. It does NOT require that the Democrats get 60 Senators. If they get 55 half a dozen or more Republicans will be Bi-Partisan and will vote with their masters.

I had around 10 (Sikh and Punjabi mix) of them during my HS years. Very pro capitalist and amiable.. But God almighty, the smell of curry was damn strong on their clothes.

“But God almighty, the smell of curry was damn strong on their clothes.”

We get the cooking smells——but the hallways have superior ventilation, year round,so it isn’t bad.

They are very quiet neighbors.

As we have discovered he is a fine man and we should be proud to have him on the SC. The rest is irrelevant.

Men go with logic and reason.

That’s what President Trump did, by the way. He went with logic and reason.

I am referring to something more primal, which many men in the Western world have lost touch with - but Trump reminds them they have.

With his shoot straight from the hip style. Offending all kinds of politically correct, domesticated sesnsiblities along the way.

Newt Gingrich describes it at length in his book about Trump.
