It’s smart of McConnell to make Flake, Collins, and Murkowski vote tomorrow to proceed to a final vote on the nomination before pausing the process for the FBI to investigate instead of pausing it right now. That’ll put Kavanaugh right at the doorstep of confirmation, with a single floor vote standing between him and the Court. It’ll add a bit of psychological pressure on the holdouts to say yes next week.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said “there’s going to be a supplemental FBI background investigation” of Kavanaugh, who faces several allegations of sexual misconduct, that would not last longer than one week. Cornyn, the majority whip, spoke after he and several other key Senate Republicans met with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

It’s not even really a week-long delay. The earliest the GOP could confirm Kavanaugh was Tuesday, I believe (Saturday’s vote was to begin debate). Now they’ll probably vote Friday. It’s three days.
I get that gives fake news media additional time to dredge up another phony accusation, but from reports, it sounds like they’ve literally already called everyone from Brett Kavanaugh’s high school and college, so I’m not sure who else they could find there.
Right around next Thursday there will be complaints that one week is not nearly enough time to do a thorough and fair investigation. And by that time there will be more accusations, rinse, repeat.....
They should have said “sure, but we’re gonna tie the FBI probe to one finding out who leaked Ford’s letter”.
WHY on earth did these pieces of human excrement get to dictate an FBI investigation? Hasn’t this man already gone through 6 FBI investigations already? They just want the FBI investigation (by a proven thoroughly corrupt FBI, mind you) to drag on and delay the confirmation. I would love to toss Flake, Murkowski and Collins into one of those pig waste lagoons in NC. They would feel right at home. Probably start doing the backstroke. Hopefully they would drown in it. They are 3 of the most execrable pieces of filth going around masquerading as humans that I’ve ever had the displeasure to know about. How have we fallen as a nation to have garbage like them and Feinstein ever elected to represent us? The next stop would be us running around in rags brandishing sticks at one another.
