Not if we learn to live within our means.
If we stop borrowing money to fund our excesses, they have no power over us.
As an individual, I guess you are correct.
But the size of the national debt means that it will never be paid off. Ever.
We have terminal cancer. We are dying. The question is whether we outlive it, or if it kills our kids, or our grandkids.
The Baby Boom killed us. We lived of a national credit card since the early 1960s. There is no way out of the economic mess. We lived on the military industrial complex, and then people spend millions of dollars living far beyond their ability to be supported. And that is going to get worse.
I am not blaming any one, or any group. It is the fact that weve lived beyond our means as a nation for half a century. That bill had to be paid.
As Mr. Savage pointed out the other day, the spending isn’t stopping. We are so used to the welfare state and big business has no problem as long as they don’t pay high taxes.
In addition, Mr. Farage has said debt and borrowing by business and government alike is as great as its ever been.
We are deeper in the hole than we have ever been.
