When I see stories like this, I look at the web site ID. Major or minor? I then take the headline, plug it into Bing and see if any of the major news sites are posting it. If not, I take the story with a grain of salt and hold off commenting on it until further clarification is given. In this case no major news site has broadcast it.
AKA clickbait.
There are numerous BS clickbait fake news sites that prey on conservatives with phony stories knowing they will be gobbled up by those who want to believe. The entire purpose is to get advertising clicks.
You can tell by the provocative headline, the BS written story, the fact that no legitimate site repeats the story.

Your response may have made sense two decades ago, but the net and the world have changed. All major media has devolved from a leftward bias to outright Leftist propaganda. The tech companies are in collusion with them to stamp out any dissent. Using any major search engine, and relying on major media is equivalent to using Snopes to verify the truth.
Using your standard, Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election, Hillary was a saint, and Antifa members are peaceful as Quakers.

Who knows if the story is true, but there are many, many REAL stories the MSM will not run, because they’re complimentary to Conservatives, or expose some of the real evil amongst liberals. Their absence in the MSM never serves as an indication that they’re bogus, to me. I look for actual proof shown.
I would remind you that the letter of Dr Ford’s former boyfriend to the Senate Judiciary Committee, advising them that he personally observed her helping her friend Monica McLean prepare for a polygraph exam was not carried in any “major news” outlet. Not ABC/CBS/NBC/WaPo/ NYT/CNN .. not one. Yet, it is part of the record of the committee and relevant to Dr. Ford’s swearing under oath that she NEVER helped anyone prepare for a polygraph exam.

Due to over 25 years in the newspaper, publishing industry I can with 100% certainty tell you that the MSM is and has been using the most powerful and most dishonest tool in all of journalism since at least the time they used that tactic to get America into the Spanish American war which was simply to increase circulation.
This used to be called the “SPIKE” in newspapers where a physical spike on an editor’s desk was used to impale any story which ran counter to the paper’s agenda.
The media used the SPIKE, now known as Lies by Omission, to assure the public, like you, would never know what they did not know. A very powerful and dishonest tool.
Obama had Brennan and Clapper tap USSC justice Roberts communications and used his “private” adoption of his 2 children from Ireland, which at the time did NOT allow “Private” adoptions.
This was used to blackmail/extort Roberts into his convoluted support for CACA {Can’t Afford Care Act}.
