Second thoughts? Democrats starting to regret burning millions of dollars on just Beto O’Rourke
Twitchy ^ | October 13, 2018 | Brett T.

Beto O’Rourke, the Senate candidate so cool that he rode a skateboard on stage at his rally Saturday in Corpus Christi, is looking more and more like John Ossoff 2.0. Hollywood’s favorite Texan is still down by about 9 points against incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, where he’s been hovering for a while. And now it looks like Democrats are having second thoughts about burning all their campaign money in one place.

Rode a skateboard on stage? And his name is Beto? Does he say things like “Chaaa dude”? or “Toadilly”

We have a unique front seat (with popcorn, because we've been stockpiling since 1991) at the collapse of the democrat party.

Much more will be known in a little less than a month, but I at least, am confident that American politics have experienced a real Atlas shrug .... not as Ayn Rand has written, but as real life is revealing if we pay attention.

I am SO looking forward to November 7 !

Good to hear Cruz has a solid lead. But we can’t be complacent! Remember November 8, 2016 and VOTE on November 6, 2018!

Yes. America is going on strike from the Democrats.

At least the Rats know who their biggest enemy is the Senate is. A stanch defender of liberty with excellent debating skills. Too bad so many Freepers can't get over the hotly contested primary Cruz ran .

It’s disconcerting Texas is this close (9 pts) - not a good trend.

If Texas flips to RatBlue, America is gone.

I, for one, celebrate having a short memory. If Cruz wins...I’ll be tickled pink.

My prediction: The Texas election will be “stolen by the Russians” who want to keep Cruz in the Senate.

As late as the early 60’s, Texas was voting for Democrats by at least as wide of a margin as they are voting for Republicans now. Cruz should have a wider lead, I agree, but between illegal immigration, Party D shenanigans, and Cruz’s own increasingly desperate antics during the 2016 primary, he’s doing about as well as can hoped for.

The democrats are more interested in blaming Trump and having an excuse than they are in actually reducing Russian influence on our elections. They can't do both, and they have chosen. In the real world, Russia doesn't care much who wins, as long as they keep us as divided as possible. With today's democrats and "Resist", Russia has a big win.

Lol at Dems saying he could have shared some of his millions for races in TN and N.Dakota. Yes, please waste money on those races too, where the Dems are trailing as much or more than in TX. Also, love the comparison to Ossof, the ultimate empty suit who went down in flames in GA.

Beto signs all over in conservative north Texas. My neighborhood is loaded with them. Before Obama I had never seen a dem sign anywhere. The onslaught of west coast lefties turns my stomach.

Why are the national Democrats so obsessed with knocking off Cruz more than anyone else?

“It’s disconcerting Texas is this close (9 pts) - not a good trend.”

Cruz will probably win by a bit more. The problem he has is that he knocked the wind out of his base with his antics 2 years ago and our Republican governor is not even being (seriously) challenged. So Cruz is effectively at the top of the ticket and many less-involved conservatives, I suspect, are wondering whether it’s worth their time to wait in line to vote for him. Obviously us FReepers here in Texas will, but we’re only a small number of people.

Throughout history Texas has had 28 democrat senators to only six republican senators. It’s good to remember that history and recall that many Texas seniors have probably voted Democrat at one point or another

I don’t blame Cruz for fighting hard in the 2016 primary. But his “vote your conscience” stance at the Convention rather than finally endorsing Trump was the most bone-headed of unforced errors. For such a smart guy, he came across as an establishment stooge in the mold of a Bush or Kasich. He should be thankful he wasn’t primaried out this time around.

He has my vote as Senator and he had my vote in the 2016 primary. But trying to throw a wrench into Trump’s machine just before going in against Hillary in the general is something I won’t easily forget.
