I've been told it's better to store rifles pointing down so the oil won't pool in the action.
Admittedly it doesn't look as cool.
Opinions?

It’s true. Oil will polymerize and lock up an action over time. I’ve had to break into several locked-up actions and use solvent and steel wool to make them operational again. Of course, if it’s a shooter, the oil shouldn’t have time to polymerize.
