You may be right about the value added product. But note that there is not all that much money in growing tobacco anymore. The big tobacco companies are busy peddling their wares abroad and acquiring soft drink, candy and snack food makers. This includes even the famous government monopoly better known as Japan Tobacco. Last I heard, tobacco products made up less than 10% of their revenue in the home country.

I can’t wait for the day everyone around me is higher than a kite.

The drug alcohol has been legal for generations - but not everyone around me is drunker than a skunk.

If someone is drunk there is a breathalyzer. There is no test for pot.

First, the breathalyzer is not what keeps everyone around me from being drunker than a skunk, since drinkers have the option of not driving.

Second, until a potalyzer is developed, cops can get stoned drivers off the street (although perhaps not convicted) with the classic roadside tests: walking a straight line, etc.

And yes, alcohol is legal but now there will be the additional stoned idiots.

Anyone unwise enough to use pot to the point of stoned idiocy is too unwise to care about anti-pot laws ... so they've been stoned idiots since before legalization. No reason to expect many additional ones.
