Exactly! I don’t know if it’s as nefarious as we might think. Maybe he was simply starstruck with McCain. Back then McCain was quite the darling of the right in D.C. He may have felt he was safe - no one would dare out him with McCain at his back, and he learned his way around the Senate from McCain.
But! I’ve been wrong before...so it could be deep and dark and mysterious.
If it’s only that, then Lindsay got one heck of a wakeup call. I’ve never seen such a political turnaround in my life.
