CNN’s Don Lemon believes that “the biggest terror threat in this country is white men” — and he’s not sure why there isn’t a travel ban in place as a result.
Lemon made the remarks to fellow network anchor Chris Cuomo on Monday night, in reference to pipe bombs sent to prominent Democrats and the Pittsburgh synagogue mass killing.
Lemon also pointed to the Kentucky grocery store murders last week, in which a white man gunned down two black individuals. The crime is also being investigated as a hate crime.
Lemon explained that it’s time to sit down and examine the root causes of these acts of violence.
In a Monday night handoff between Cuomo and Lemon’s respective programming slots, Lemon said that he believed that white men are the biggest threat to personal security in the nation.
“I keep trying to point out to people and not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity,” Lemon told Cuomo. “But we keep thinking that the biggest terror threat is something else, some people who are marching, you know, toward the border, like it’s imminent.”
“And the last time they did this, a couple hundred people came and they — you know, most of them did get into the country, most of them tired — you know, got tuckered out before they made it to the border,” he added.
Lemon then proceeded to demonize one particular group and ethnicity: white men.
“So, we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men — most of them radicalized to the right — and we have to start doing something about them,” he explained. “There is no travel ban on them. There is no ban on — you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no ‘white guy ban.'”
