IMHO, Culver’s is way better, and among the nicest, cleanest restaurants around. Up there with In-n-Out, but different.

How does Culver’s compare to 5 Guys?

They are different animals. Five Guys makes a better, home style burger, but is more expensive, and menu choices are limited.

Culver's has an unusually full menu (includes chicken, Cod, cheese curds, sweet potato fries, frozen custard and more). Few real clunkers on the menu, but you won't mistake it for fine dining. Priced more than the McDonald's, but not a lot more. Much better seating. Free wifi that works. Clean. Not the fastest, but food cooked to order and delivered to table. Staff is cleaner and more polite than anything this side of Chick-Fil-A. Keeps enough staff to handle real rushes. French fires are garden variety frozen crinkle cuts. They mail it in on the fries. Above average iced tea.

Five Guys has a better burger than any other fast food chain in terms of quality, which is as good as anything short of a good quality local casual dining place, and MUCH better than all the chains (TGIF's, Chili's, Applebees). The French fries are fresh cut/cooked and also very good. Topping selection is creative. Coke select-a-drink is standard. Place is NOT designed to encourage lingering. Service is acceptable. Cooked to order and sometimes lines get longer. There's room in this world for both Five Guys and Culver's. If I could only have one, I'd have Culver's.

Thank you for the descriptions and details on Culver’s and 5 Guys. I asked how Culver’s compares to 5 Guys because I know 5 Guys as a premium burger place, but had never heard of Culver’s. There is a 5 Guys around the corner from us and we’re addicted.

Sounds like Culver’s would be a great addition here - hope they will move into the New York City market. We have Chik-Fil-A now, so anything is possible!
