Migrant mothers can teach Western women “to be both a feminine woman and to be mothers,” because of their unique experience of motherhood, a Vatican official said this weekend.
Gabriella Gambino, one of the highest-ranking women in the Vatican Curia, said that mothers in Western countries often have difficulty being both “woman and mother,” while migrant mothers more easily integrate these different dimensions.
Migrant women “are a bit of a prototype of a motherhood completely different, a motherhood lived in its essence, in the feminine dimension,” Gambino said at a November 9 book presentation in Rome.

Ms. Gambino, who is a mother of five and undersecretary for the “life” section of the Vatican department for Laity, Family, and Life, said that that women migrants “are those who, especially from African countries, live with violence but who can offer the world their motherhood, they are women who truly know how to live motherhood as having, not doing.”
This essential grasp of motherhood is more difficult in the West, Gambino said, because of a post-modern feminist emphasis on independence and productivity.

We western women live in a real world where we work our butts off to send our kids to college so they don't wind up living on a dirt road, eating out of a garbage dump.
We are women. We love our children as much as anyone.
Yep. We need those migrants to teach women how to pop out a baby every year and have other people pay for it.
From what I’ve heard about muslim women, sounds like the Western women would have to learn how to be beaten up at the whim of the men and sons. PHFFT

She is, of course, talking about womanhood practiced under the heel of especially vicious patriarchy.
When women have no vote, cannot go outside alone, must be completely covered head to foot, are absolutely subservient to their husband/father/brother, have their labia and clitoris cut off at age 12, are killed outright for embarrassing their father/husband/brother, may not speak in the presence of unrelated males, may not enter the Mosque, may not learn to read, over all are treated as a subservient species of human, they learn to express a very guarded style of femininity/motherhood.
Curious that the pontiff holds this in such high repute.
I used to laugh when I’d read crazy nonsense being said by various lefty bishops in the Church of England. Now I sigh when I realize my own Church under Francis is every bit as kooky and maybe more.

I have come to the conclusion that there is not a single sensible person in the Vatican. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were just spouting harmless nonsense. But what they are saying is actually dangerous.
What does the Vatican know about women? The place is full of men, except for the nuns who are waitresses in long dresses, not mothers.

That and being physically mutilated, being one of many wives, and “honor killed”, if the father, brother, husband, and/or a son thinks that you have “dishonored” the family.
This is true, insofar as “Western Women” means liberal feminists, which is unfortunately the case in most of Europe, not to mention urban America.
Re-read. This wasn’t the Pope. The “Vatican official” who said this was Gabriella Gambino, mother of five.
Did the article at any point say “Muslim” women?
(2) It wasn't about Muslim women, it eas about African women. The women portrayed were not veiled Muslim women.
