In the fall of 1990 I got rid of my TV and an counter intuitive thing happened..... when I would catch a show in a hotel or somewhere something odd happened. Nothing was entertaining. Shows weren’t funny. You would think I would be desperate for something to entertain me, but my standards went up not down. This also spread into movies. Which are so insanely slow to me I can’t sit through them. The other thing I realized is..... I don’t NEED to be entertained. I have a fun compelling and interesting life. I have friends, I am highly active, and I now have a sense that some idiot writer is NOT entitled to me or my attention. I have also developed a sense that my time is valuable, they should be paying me to watch their show. Ask yourself this question..... What did Americans do before Radio, TV and the movies? They, invented and tinkered in their shops, especially in the winters. Now we have given over all of our creative attention to a not funny tv show and commercials. That is a huge loss.
Great point.
Well covered in F451 and The Matrix.
I don’t watch TV and certainly don’t miss it.

They read books. They spent evenings with their families. They went for walks together. They worshiped their Creator on Sunday. Those sorts of things.
