New York (CNN Business) Television icon Kathie Lee Gifford will bid farewell to NBC's "Today" show next April.
"As we all know, Kathie Lee's plate has been overflowing lately with film, music and book projects, and after giving us eleven extraordinary years, she's decided to focus her attention full-time on those other creative endeavors," NBC News President Noah Oppenheim wrote in an internal memo Tuesday morning.
Oppenheim called her a "legend" for her "enduring and endearing talents in morning television."
Gifford has co-hosted the 10 a.m. hour of "Today" with Hoda Kotb since 2008. The hour is known for funny conversations, celebrity guests and free-flowing wine.

Gracefully fired it sounds like... “legends” in their own minds...
Why not tomorrow?...................
This is astonishing. A CNN story that doesnt bash the president. Or do they end up blaming Trump for her leaving? That would not surprise me.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Matt Lauer’s upcoming ‘Tell All’ book?.................
It might.
NBC is facing a headwind.
“creating an unprecedented four hours of live television”
legends’ in their own minds is right.
my poor husband had to watch Kathie and Hoda in a dr’s waiting room. He is still damaged.
It is a good show to watch sometimes. I am a man, I like the show. Sometimes the two of them can be a bit irritating, but it is a entertainment/social topics segment of the news-heavy Today Show.
They are legends because they are on television and they have a medium that most people strive to get on.
That is legendary.
Being on television in the 21st century is legendary.
Not I.

Haven’t watched her since Name That Tune.
Heh...thought she was dead.
I’ve heard jokes that the 4th hour of the Today Show,is the most useless hour on television. I wonder how many people actually watch that hour.
I caught a brief glimpse of Mrs. Gifford at the local Wal-mart many, many years ago. it may have been a book signing. She drew a larger crowd than Hillary would have.
I thought Kathy left yesterday...
Never understood people wanting to be on tv, just don’t get it.
replace her with Dean Cain?
KLG is 65. No shame in cutting back one’s schedule at that age, especially from a job that requires getting up early AM.
