House Dems' plan to end shutdown is likely DOA

House Democrats will propose a two-part plan to reopen the federal government once they take power on Thursday, according to multiple Democratic aides. The proposal, however, won’t provide President Donald Trump with his much sought-after border money boost.

Their plan would fund the Department of Homeland Security until Feb. 8, and all other closed agencies — such as Transportation, Commerce and Agriculture — for the rest of the fiscal year through Sept. 30.

Democrats intend to vote on the plan Thursday, the same day they officially wrest control of the House from Republicans. But the Senate won’t accept the measures absent an unlikely presidential endorsement.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has made clear that the chamber will only vote on a bill that has Trump’s full support. Don Stewart, a spokesman for McConnell, reiterated that stance when asked about Pelosi’s plans on Monday.

“It’s simple: The Senate is not going to send something to the president that he won’t sign” Stewart said.

Democrats big plans face two major problems, the Senate and the President. Other than that, they are on easy street!

“Why did it take four people to write something everyone knew yesterday?”

Common Core journalism.

In the old days ‘journalists’ had half a brain. These days it’s down to a quarter of a brain.

Even that will be cut in half by summer.

This is why you’ve seen articles about abolishing the Senate, how the Senate is racist, and it’s not fair that Wyoming has the same number of Senators as California.

The Stupid Party is still Gutless. Republican lawmakers should call out the “anti-national-security democrat party” by accusing them in being complicit is drug smuggling, rape and murder. Nope. Everyone tiptoes around reality and political correctness.

McTurtle has finally found his gonads. This started with Kavanaugh when maybe finally the GOP cannot make "deals and cross the aisle" with the RADICAL COMMINE RAT PARTY that has changed so greatly in the last 40 years.

Might be just what this country needs to wake the f up?!?!?
I really don’t see how going fwd this country survives as the founders intended? The libertards have several generations of welfare state and anti capitalism, hate “rich” people attitudes behind them. Add to it the racist/sexism angle along w the breakdown of moral Christian values, and you have a major CF going fwd for patriotic conservatives.
Older folks are dying off and newer generations generally want taken care of. I don’t see a good ending here?
Hope I’m wrong!

Really smart of President Trump to plan the shutdown over Christmas break. Pain will start to set in, in about two weeks - need to make the blood suckers miss a couple of paydays. In current polling, only 7% of Republicans are blamed.

Pelosi and Schumer’s offices haven’t heard from affected workers yet - once that starts, it’s going to be hard for the ‘party of no’ not to negotiate.

Congress is experiencing a spending Jones. The pain will eventually provide Trump with the paltry 5 billion.

"The proposal, however, won’t provide President Donald Trump with his much sought-after border money"

Which will accomplish exactly what?

These people should be impeached for abuse of office.

Shirley, you jest!

Democrats haven't faced reality in nearly a century.
