Powerline ^ | 12 Jan 2019 | Steven Hayward

As the government shutdown enters its fourth week, we’re still not done dunking on Chuck and Nancy, who really are the gift that keeps on giving. But if you think Democrats are upset now, just wait to see what happens if Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg decides to retire from the Supreme Court. I’ve already got my full Road Warrior regalia unpacked and at the dry cleaners getting ready for it. Extra long edition today, so brew up a full pot of Irish coffee before proceeding.

Someone grab some images from Mad Max or Fallout ... anything to show the apocalyptic world we’ve become because of Orange Man.

What does bother me is there will never be any recall or mention when previous government shut downs comparison impacts get reviewed over the impact they had.
Of this;

Not dare refer to the most costly and disgraceful results from a “shutdown” that happened during Nixon’s presidency. Caused by the democrats refusal to stand by the Vietnamese effort to remain independent by refusing them air support and supplemental funding of arm supplies which would have prevented that loss and that humiliating disgraceful evacuation of our Saigon embassy.

Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their 58,000 lives assisting them in their fight for freedom dishonored..

The whole Vietnam conflict was quite the mess.

It’s a long complicated topic, but basically, the politicians should of stayed out. The military should of handled it.

On a side note, the M-14 should of stayed as the main battle rifle too, that would of made the enemy much more fearful.

This is a pretty long video, but I thought he had an interesting take on this issue:

Why I Despise the M-14

I loved the M-14 too Brother .......but, Lady Bird Johnson’s stock in Colt would not have performed very well. Follow the money.

He’s very biased and a lot of what he says is straight up wrong.

While I do love the AR-10 and I think Stoner got a bad rap there, there’s a reason the M-14 is still in service today.

Mine, I have no issues with close or further, reliability and accuracy.

Does having a different opinion about the M-14 mean he's biased? He thinks the M-14 was not the right weapon for the type of fighting that was going on in Vietnam. I think his biggest beef was with the Ordnance Corps and how they developed weapons.

He was biased against a lot of things. The only reason the FAL was the “right arm” of the free world was politics. It fires the same round. I’ve got extensive experience will a multitude of small arms, and the M-14 hands down is top notch.

He was factually incorrect in a lot of things, but I do like the AR-10 as well.

Must have posted that 10 times and don’t seem like it. Some how I get the felling that too many after they post here preaching to the choir but not to the folks in their precinct believe they’re making noise.

FR is not an activist site. There are some here more "in-the-streets" than others, but for the most part, it's keyboard cowboys.

Still, there's value in that. The sense of community has inspired a lot of people who would have given up during the Dark Times. You don't have to stand at the barricades to make a difference.
