“The effect will be to arrest and prosecute more people, turning them into bleating sheep.”
On Jan 1st, in Ontario Canada, a new Distracted Driving Law went into effect. If, while driving, you are seen on a cell phone, eating in the car, fiddling with the radio etc you will be given a ticket with a minimum $1,000 fine. If you are caught three times, you lose your license. No one is in favor of distracted driving but the police are going overboard. They will be riding in SUV’s, short buses etc so they can look down into cars as they go by and get a better look at what’s going on. Don’t the police have better things to do?
The police in Canada do not write the laws they are expected to enforce. Your beef is with the legislature, not the cops.
