Used to be able to out to a nice restaurant, have a few martinis, enjoy a fine dinner and cigar afterwards. No more.

Going out to a restaurant to order a meal which any decent cook can prepare at home, proves only that the same meal tastes better with a restaurant wrapped around it. Tipping not required at home and it’s much quieter.

Wines and cocktails when eating out are a total ripoff, unless on a cruise ship where it’s far worse.

Can’t address cigars since I quit long ago.

As for alcohol testing w/o probable cause, that does point to a police state in the making where they look for something to charge you with. At least where I live, presenting your CCW with your license makes for a mild encounter usually with a warning instead of a ticket.

Canada’s not disarmed, far from it. But having to apply for a license to merely possess makes one a person of interest in the eyes of the law. And if Canada is like Britain, self defense is not a valid reason to either own or use a firearm to that purpose.
