My strong advice is to buy AT LEAST ONE of these (and never sell it!), and practice with it maybe every three months or so. Great fun, and you will meet the oddest, most eclectic, and fun bunch of people you have ever known (gun freaks are delightful!). My stronger advice is buy THREE of them, and dump two of them if you see the prices go $2500+.

Keeping a spare of known quality is worthwhile when considering "worst case" scenarios. One is none, two is one, etc. Changing out a bolt head or buffer spring - not a big deal. However, not everyone can replace a barrel or other component that requires specialty tools - hence the need for "spares". If the situation becomes dire enough to run prices through the roof, I sure as Hell won't be thinking about selling off my means of defense for a few bucks.

I had five AKs and sold all but one when prices went north of 900 dollars back when “they weren’t going to import any more.”

You can take a guess on whether bought some back now that prices are back to about 5-600 (these are Yugos, Chinese, and one Czech underfolder).

Never sell your personal stuff, and I am not saying how many of those I have.
