It did nothing
We used .22 shorts in a single shot Stevens Crackshot to put down hogs and cattle for slaughter. Every once in awhile the bullet would bounce off the skull in the hogs. In one case several bounced off the hog's skull so we used a .30-40 and it did the trick.

Thanks. I’m thinking of replacing the barrel on the standard 10/22 with something along those lines. It’s topped with a Nikon Rimfire BDC so it’s pretty darned accurate now.

But I’d like to be able to depend on it a bit farther out than I can now. I can make reliable hits out to about 75 yards the way it’s set up now. I did replace the stock trigger. To my mind that’s the most important mod one can make on almost any gun and it’s the first thing I do.

A clean consistent trigger break is critical IMO.

Thanks for the info.

I’ll say a prayer for you, my friend.

Is anything specific wrong, or is it just a check-up?

It’s all about shot placement.

True - I've read that the .22 Hornet is popular with the Inuit (plus, it can be reloaded ;^)...

The subsonic ammo will cycle the 10/22?

Dunno...last I heard he beat her on the street and she claimed self defense....1995-ish Rose City neighborhood North Little Rock, AR during the crack epidemic. HBO show "Banging in Little Rock" filmed from the murder scene in broad daylight.

The real surprise was how quiet the 22LR subsonic is from a rifle barrel, even unsuppressed. You can fire it in suburbia no problem. A carpenter makes more noise with a hammer.

Yep - I like to use it in one of these:

Savage 87A, late '40s - early '50s semi-auto. You can see the charging handle doubles as a breech crossbolt, allowing locked-breech shots with low-power ammo. Long barrel, too - both the Aguila subsonic and the CCI Quiet .22 make less noise than the average airgun.

Thanks for the memories!
The Stevens 87A and a Marlin 39A were the sweetest rifles I ever shot. Marlin had custom finished stock. Loved shooting it with one hand.
Only complaint(87A) was when sear wore down, it would go auto(2-3 rds.) and jam.
Worst day was selling both, in 59.

I thought as an eye witness, you’d be apt to have to testify and therefore know.

Perhaps she turned her life around? One can only hope.

Seems like a fair price. I wonder if anyone makes a 1:9 barrel for the 10/22 Takedown? Hmm.

You don't testify if you don't go to trial......or the prosecutor didn't file charges...or she died....on the lam? ? I don't know. Don't care. They got our name and statement and subpoenaed the video tapes and that's the last we heard. Don Hill at Don's Weaponry, Inc in NLR ….happened in front of his gun store while we were there. I'd ask him what happened but he died last year.
