group think, indoctrination... having raised my kids through this period of time I can tell you that there’s entire web communities where these kids sit around and self-diagnose... their identity is tied up in dysfunction and reinforced by Google’s search results...

Yep. Its a fashion. Kids spend 12 years at public school being told their sexuality is “fluid” and everything is OK. Then middle class kids go to university, where the real propaganda and echo chamber kicks in.
I know of a few kids, from very normal families, who suddenly discovered they were transgender/queer (not even straight up lesbian) when at college.
