It had nothing to do with being ashamed of her heritage. She did not have the credentials she needed to get where she wanted to go, so she needed to give herself an advantage over folks with superior credentials.

Totally disagree. She was not and is not ashamed to be white, she took advantage of the unfair advantages that public institutions and corporations have bestowed upon favored minority groups. She did it because it rewarded her. The current racial spoils system victimizes all Americans and it has caused interracial violence and local ethnic cleansing and, if it is done away with, will lead to genocide.
