I have some offbeat interests which leads to the need for offbeat products. I can’t tell you how many times in the last couple of years — since Wally World decided to go head-to-head against Bezos — that I’ve done a generic search for something quirky (on duckduckgo or startpage or similar) and discovered that not only did Walmart online offer it, they had the best price. Most offer free home shipping and most of the rest ship free to my local Wally World.

I pretty much gave up on Wal-Mart.com when I ordered something thru their site from one of their “providers” and received the wrong item. The provider wouldn’t return my calls or emails. I contacted Wal-Mart...couldn’t even get thru. I even got PayPal involved...they were helpful, but still couldn’t get the item switched out or a refunded. Luckily, the wrong item was something that I liked (a $55 Kershaw knife), so I “lived” with it. I just don’t trust Wal-Mart.com now.

I always search walmart first and have order several/many things there. Always satisfied.

Walmart.com is great. It is a little cumbersome not as slick as Amazon. Shipping is just as fast ans some prices are a LOT lower. Amazon has a habit of buying out the cheap sellers and reselling at a much higher price. Good luck...

Lots of stuff can be picked up at your local Wally for no shipping charge.

Oh, I might also mention...Overstock.com.

I’ve only ordered one order from them...some finish plumbing items. Thru my fault...I ordered the wrong thing. I called to see about returning the items and a human answered IMMEDIATELY. The return was easily arranged. There was a reasonable restocking fee but it included return shipping.

I don’t know why I don’t think of Overstock when I order things now as I would definitely do business with them again.

Be very, very careful. Websites such as Walmart.com, Target.com, and even Kmart.com list both items sold by the host store, but they also sell items that are really sold by third parties, just like Amazon does.

Here's an example of a Magpul wallet (random item search) that is on the Walmart.com website, but with closer inspection, is really sold by Botach Tactical.

I shop where I get the best price/value for the money, of which I don’t have enough to be real choosy.

Like some of the other posters, I check amazon for the item/price then look for it on walmart.com or (in the case of vitamins/supplements/etc) look for it on vitacost.com (owned by kroger).

Usually it’s cheaper or same exact price elsewhere. I only buy on amazon what I can’t find anywhere else or it’s dollars cheaper there.

But usually I look locally first. I like getting out and about. Our local ace hardware store and freds are my first stops.

Amazon has basically a monopoly right now and that's not a good thing. I'm a Walmart shopper when I can.

I use Walmart’s free ship to store service a number of times a year. I live within 2 mile from their local store, it is a convenient service.

I've been looking for decent alternatives to Amazon and have started using a plugin for Chrome named "WikiBuy." It will find the same item I'm shopping on Amazon for, often cheaper elsewhere with free shipping and no sales tax.

Since Amazon now taxes sales here in Illinois, I've been looking for alternatives to avoid it and WikiBuy helps with that. I'm a "starve the beast" kinda guy.

So if you use Google Chrome and shop Amazon, install the WikiBuy Chrome browser plug-in and give it a try. I've been pleasantly surprised thus far with the results and savings by purchasing elsewhere than Amazon, which doesn't always have the best price.

Dollar store...you don’t have to get dressed up like at Walmart.

I would if they hosted resellers like amazon does. I buy alot of supplements and walmart doesn’t currently carry any of the ones I like.

I use both amazon and walmart.com One advantage of walmart.com is the ability to return the product to a walmart store without having to return ship.

We shop at the brick-and-mortar Walmart once or twice a week, but never the .com. We use Amazon Prime often, and it seems that much of the business we do with them is with smaller businesses, and they’ve been wonderful. Sometimes there’ll be a note in the package saying that if there are problems, contact them before doing a negative review on Amazon. They need business, and will bend over backward to fix the problem and make you happy.

My sister ordered a new laptop from a company in Tampa, and they sent her a Windows 10 instead of the Windows 7 she had ordered. They sent her another laptop, and told her to keep the Windows 10 - which she gave to her daughter.

The battery in my laptop died only a couple months after I got the system. They sent me a brand new one — express.

I use both for online shopping.

Walmart gets the nod far just walking around, looking at and actually touching what I might buy..

Wal-Mart is a single company. Amazon creates an environment where thousands of small companies can sell goods to customers. Don’t like Amazon? Start a business that competes with them.

I avoid Amazon by using Ebay. I will not ever pay the Amazon Prime head tax.
