We have the power to stop all of it. As they did in 1776 and 1861.

We could have put a stop to so much of this had people voted for folks other than McConnell, Ryan, Graham, etc etc, over and over, expecting something different the next time. obamacare would be history had it not been for mccain turning his back on the people the elected him and yet, he’s held as a hero in his death, when he was anything but.

We have the power to change things, we choose not to. Is it easy? Nope. Can it be done? Yep. And this isn’t just on the federal level, either. This goes all the way to your local school board and city council’s. I think, pretty much across the board, they are all corrupt to the core and not a lot of people seem to care.

I fought the local school system 20 years ago in Lakeland, FL. I fought at the teacher level, I fought at the administration level, I fought at the school board level and I fought at the Superintendent level.

I won worthy victories at each level. But......they were victories for my child. None of these victories changed anything for anyone else. Only in one instance I did manage to force a change in county policy. And I would be surprised if that wasn’t revised a few years later after I was out of the picture.

That’s when the reality hit me of how few parents cared about the school system, or were willing to take the time and effort to do battle over anything. Many had no clue what was taking place - and didn’t want to know. Take a stand on principle? Too much time and effort. Especially in an area where one would likely butt heads with too many local power brokers. School boards are part of any local old boys network. Go along to get along.

My kid is grown. The wife and I live in another state, in a smaller town. Same thing here. Incompetence and corruption are at every level of government. Regardless of where you live or how conservative you think your area is, institutions like the school system are incompetent.

You know, I wonder about this. Do, we the people, continue to vote for these entitled elistist jerks? Or is the vote controlled by the voting machines? I have a very hard time finding Republicans who vote for McConnell et al, in the primaries. I question whether these people are elected at all. We need paper ballots, voter ID with proof of citizenship and proof of residency, and voting only on election day! As well, we need bipartisan observers, law enforcement, and iron clad rules regarding the handling of the ballots. If we don’t restore the sanctity of the vote, nothing else really matters.

(Personally I would favor enlarging the house significantly as our population has grown — if we have to build a new house to accommodate them so what? And, I would favor 3 senators from each state, one running every 2 years, and the power to recall senators and representatives. I would also favor, voter approval of S/C justices in the next election after they are appointed, and then every 10-12 years after that.)
