I can think of no better example of the old axiom, “When you need a job done right you have to do it yourself,” than this story. And let’s hope it has legs because every state and federal leader in the country needs to take notice of it because the future has arrived.
On Friday The New York Times published a story about a civilian-led militia group, which — believe it or not — Fox News labeled “right-wing” — is ’rounding up illegal aliens,’ ‘holding them at gunpoint,’ and alerting the U.S. Border Patrol so agents can come to pick them up.

And when the government wont, the people must.
1. Anyone on that border better have a gun.
2. Since when is it illegal to perform a citizen’s arrest and then turn over the suspect to law enforcement?

The former governor had some national guard on the border, and that idiot crook they have now pulled them off and said there is no crisis there. She is aiding and abetting this, along with Sen. Tom Udall and others.

I admire the desire to do something more about the illegals than just talk. I wish Trump had that same outlook. But you do ask a good question. And sooner or later some group of illegals is going to do that. Walk away. Then what? I can’t see this ending well.
And there’s a second problem. Militias traditionally have been under state control. And it pretty much has to be that way. Otherwise, you’d have competing militias. Maybe one militia wants to repel the illegals. Another might want to protect them.
What a mess.

Civilian militias should not be necessary at the southern border. That whole area should be covered by federal troops. Why that’s not happening is on Trump. That’s where the buck stops. I’m sorry to have to say that, but it’s true.

Wait a minute. I wonder if the local sheriffs could deputize those folks. Then they would be not an unregulated militia but a legal law enforcement group.
