The reality of the Trump economy
The Hill ^ | Juan Williams

Posted on 05/01/2019 5:51:15 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

Do you recall this golden promise from Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign?

“We’re going to make America wealthy again,” he promised. “You have to be wealthy in order to be great.”

Well, Trump voters, how is that working out for you?

After almost two-and-a-half years with Trump in the White House — including two years with Republican control of both houses of Congress — the middle class is getting squeezed to a pulp.

The rich got their Trump tax cut. GDP looks good. And the stock market is doing great for people with money to invest. But it is only the rich who get the big rewards in Trump’s economy.

What about the middle class?

Wages remain stagnant. Trump’s trade wars are hurting farmers. Coal mines keep closing. Teachers in several states have been on strike.

>>> Juan Williams: “Housing prices are up; prescription drug prices and healthcare costs are up; gas prices are up and student debt is soaring.

This is the reality for the middle class.” <<<

Thanks to Democrats’ policies, Juan forgot (on purpose) to mention. But never mind, it is all Trump’s fault.

Boy, those were some cherry-picked facts, Wah-wah Juan!

Trump has had less than two years in office and has surpassed any growth you may attribute to the Great Pretender.

Your racial bias is palpable.

Yeah in two years he ought to have been able to completely unwind 40 years of policy, and the effects of 40 years of policy. Very stupid article by Mr. Williams.

Joe Biden has a longstanding campaign theme -- "I'm for the Middle Class"

Joe Biden is now running for president.

Media marching orders: "You know what? Trump is screwing the Middle Class."

It's always the Narrative. Truth doesn't matter.

Juan called Robert E Lee a traitor on the “five” and the other 4 just sat there. Greg Gutless made a little comment but it was useless.

LOL. Everything is Trump’s fault. This reminds me of the articles you used to see when the Reagan economic boom was going on. Sure, the economy is great but what about all those people who were “left out” of the recovery? Remember that? Now Juan is reviving it for Trump. Sure, the economy is great but . . . . . Its a good sign.

44% of all US households pay no federal income tax. The top 50% of all federal income tax payers pay 97% of all federal income taxes. IOW, the bottom half of American earners don’t pay income taxes, so how they gonna get a tax cut? Cannot happen mathematically. That top 50% of American earners pays about 16% of their income in federal income taxes. The top 10% of all earners pays at a rate of about 22% in federal income tax. The data is all out there, not that your local rag or the enemedia would publish this stuff.

Well, Juan, my company just got a contract renewed, and I got a raise...first one in a long time. My house value is finally above where it was after Obama took office and everything went off the rails. I’m still paying less for gas than I was back then, too. And, my kids are either graduated from college, preparing to graduate, or just entering college...with zero debt. Not bad for middle class.
