Thinking America could not last in its present form for years 9 thru 12 of yet another Obama (by proxy) administration - I was prepping like my hair was on fire.

I was in from the moment he reached the floor. Sent money, bought gear, Put up signs. When my house, car, signs were vandalized, and my cat poisoned, I put up more signs and pennants that ran along my soffits.

When told if every Trump Supporter could flip 3 Dem’s that he would win, I flipped 4 Dem’s

Sadly, the bloom is off the rose for me, He has surrounded himself with swamp creatures and war mongers on foreign policy. Instead of evolving in his role as CiC, he posts whiney tweets.

And he has been ineffective on the Southern Border. My state of Texas is over run, and the feds dump them off at bus stations with an Adios, and now, Adieu with the African Congolese being dumped.

“Back in 2011, there was talk of a Trump run. I opposed it real bad and boy was I wrong.”

Same here. I remember thinking, Trump’s a businessman, what the hell does he know about politics or policy? I thought he’d end up being a spoiler if he ran. I had a lot to learn.

Trump is just turning the corner with all the things that you say you’re concerned about, and now you’re jumping off the train? You’re easily discouraged.

No. The choice was a corrupt hag who would make the Obama nightmare 8 years look like a vacation to Disney world, or pick 16 of the same political assholes that say they will do something and it’s nothing. Trump was the best choice because he strives for greatness, and I knew he was the right choice by the level of hatred the media had for him.

I was all-in for Ted Cruz, who held the best resume for the Presidency we've seen in decades. I'm still a huge admirer, and will remain so.

I saw Trump as bringing in a wave of D-list celebrities and "quirky" billionaires the government for many years (which could still happen... Howards Schwarz has already tried to step forward). I saw his lack of diplomatic demeanor as a huge problem (and it certainly has had its pro's and con's).

I never had any clue that he would be so fervently for limited government, for putting American on equal standing with our trading partners, or that he would handle the psychotic press as well as he has. I DID assume that his reputation for appointing excellent people to all the right positions might continue, but that has been a mixed bag at best. I knew that he would try to make his name as the best President for business, but I only gave him 50-50 odds on pulling it off. He has exceeded all reasonable expectations already.

We are blessed, and beyond lucky, that he won and that he has accomplished what he has thus far. I can only pray for another 1.5 and 5.5 years of it, and that someone similar steps up in 2024.

... I backed Cruz until Cruz tried to blame Trump for what was obviously false-flag violence at one of Trump’s rallies - that was March 2016 IIRC. After that, Trump all the way. And nothing he has done or been unable to complete in the meantime has changed my mind.

You described my transition from Cruz to Trump perfectly.

When Cruz pulled that stunt, I was fully convinced I was rooting for the wrong guy.

*** Trump is just turning the corner with all the things that you say you’re concerned about, and now you’re jumping off the train? You’re easily discouraged. ***

Please post examples of this “turning the corner “ things of which you speak.

We are still in Syria supporting “moderate” rebels. We are setting up a new base there. I know folks who will be deployed.

There is no effective wall on the border. An effective wall stops people. A detour is not a wall.

We are currently trying to negotiate with the Taliban in Afghanistan. They are laughing at our Ambassador’s talking points given for American consumption.

BTW, leaving Afghanistan? I know people who are being deployed there, too.

He vetoed Congress on Yemen. That country is being decimated. Blood on our hands.

So, please let me know all the success stories you are inferring are imminent, and when he stops whining on Twitter.

I don’t care about the time, money, and energy I invested to support his election. (I wish my cat wasn’t dead.) I gave him my Vote, and his betrayal of my vote sealed it for me.

I also discounted Trump until I happen to catch one of his earliest campaign events. It made me an instant supporter. I said to myself, man he sounds like Sarah Palin. He has exceeded even my expectations so far.

Not only was I an early Trump supporter, but I believed that he could win due to 2016 being a “change election” and Trump’s intense focus and commitment to winning.

Uh, that’s going to be hard. Okay, well let’s see, here’s one. Building the wall. Trump has secured the funding he needs to complete the wall, and it wasn’t easy but he did it. Now the rest is just the time it takes to actually build it. You can’t just wave a magic wand. It will completed in about a year. But I understand that’s not good enough for sock puppets.

Did Trump betray you when his administration essentially defeated ISIS, and deescalated the situation in North Korea? That also is not good enough for you, so your ‘support’ was either phony or never worth all that much.

"Trump is our last hope to saving our Constitutional Republic and culture. "

Trump is our last hope to saving restoring our Constitutional Republic and culture.
The Republic (as constituted) hasn't existed since the one-two punch of Lincoln and T. Roosevelt...

Hmmm... It does seem that the GOPe down through the ages has worked to destroy the Nation and it's former Republic...

Even today they are striving to remove all vestiges of the history of the former Republic and original Constitution...

Wow! Lots of people I liked and trusted came out immediately to bash, discredit and ridicule Trump. So unjust! Sowell, Levin (The Not-So-Great One), Ben Stein, Will, others.

I had been reading Trump since I was a pup. He’s been great all along.

Foolishly thought the New Yorkers would support him... he’d done A LOT for them over the years.

Very disillusioning.

All those who dissed Trump are dead to me. A few became Woke and realized which side their toast was buttered on, and cravenly changed their views of Trump, cementing them forever to me as total maggots yes Levin that is you.

I had $1000 badly needed elsewhere in our lives, set aside to boost our prep supplies because we would need them if Hillary had won.

I don’t know when I came aboard, but I do know it was late winter or so in 2016. Election night, DH went to bed early, convinced Hillary would win. I woke him at 1:30 with the news and was finally able to go to sleep.

If we can pull off another fighter in 2024 and whoever it is goes 8 years, we’ll have a chance at gaining the country back.

I likely won’t live to see it, as I’ll be 89 in 2032, but I’ll die at peace about my country.

I’ve often thought that’s because all there is is Swamp Creatures of one degree or another. And there’s lots of money to be made in war mongering.

He’s gotten rid of many of those types, but there is an endless supply.

I switched from Cruz to Trump that day.

But I thought higher of him then than I do now. I’m glad for all his accomplishments and his fighting the media. But I like him less as a human and as a leader than I did then, not knowing him as well. I thought, from a reality tv show, that he was great with people and had a fantastic knack for knowing who would he the right people for positions. He seems not to. I thought he was a moral guy, playboy mostly when single. He’s much sleazier than I had thought. His judgment is just not as refined as I think the office needs. And his megalomania is not just a cute joke: it goes deep. It’s cringey.

I’m not disappointed in him per se. I know he loves this country and he does want to serve us. He has made huge sacrifices for us. But I’m not sure what he will even be able to achieve in another 4 years. We shall see.
