Republicans worry that the NRA and two other groups that have long formed the core of their electoral infrastructure will be effectively on the sidelines.

The National Rifle Association aired an avalanche of TV ads and pushed its 5 million-plus members to the polls for Donald Trump in 2016, propelling him in the Rust Belt states that delivered him the presidency.

Political involvement has become a drooling cult of personality resembling cluck-fests on daytime talk shows.

Politico has as much credibility as CNN or MSNBC.

Just more blogtrash wishing they were correct. Or even relevant.

Hard to believe Politico has the dumbness to actually put stuff like this into words.

I don’t need the NRA to tell me to vote.

And I don’t need the NRA to tell me who to vote for. Some of their endorsements in the past have been totally unsatisfactory (e.g. Harry Reid).

"Wayne LaPierre used $275,000 of the group's money to buy luxury clothes at Zegna in Beverly Hills, Calif."

That was over a period of about 13 years involving Ackerman McQueen productions and billed to Ack-Mac.

I quit giving to the NRA when they donated to Hairy Reid’s campaign.

"Politico has as much credibility as CNN or MSNBC."

Yes, and as much credibility as nearly all other media companies. Nearly all of them are based on the coasts in the vain and glamorous, completely feminized commie states.

People deserve a good salary for good work, but if even half of this is true it smells bad for a “non-profit”. This is especially true when the person receiving the giant salary has all their travel, much of their clothing, vehicle (?), and meals paid for on the company dime.

Issue advocacy has many of the same problems as mega-churches and there is a very bad smell coming from the NRA at the moment. No reason to sugarcoat it.

However, it does not change the 2nd Amendment issue at all - especially in the race for the Presidency.

I'm sure a gun owner will vote Dem if the NRA is having difficulties. NRA paying members have been convinced long ago that the Dems are after their guns whether they pay their dues or not.

Their is no way Trump will lose if the economy continues to rule, NRA OR NO NRA.

Now, the gun rights group is in total meltdown — and senior Republicans and Trump 2020 officials are alarmed.
Or so say democrat informants and propagandists.

I guess the Republicans are alarmed by taking in over a hundred million dollars in donations already too.

Yeah, because without the NRA, every gun owner in American will rush to the polling booth and vote for Swallowswell.
