Country Rock, e.g., The Eagles, Firefall, etc., and related Country Folk, e.g., Nicolette Larson, died out about when New Wave and Punk, and acts such as Prince, took over pop.

Before too long, Country became popified (even more) and filled the vacuum. It concomitantly shed most of its genuinely rural, conservative philosophical underpinnings.

Garth Brooks was more the result than the cause of this - and he was not that bad.

Now most Country does not interet me.

One current exception for me: Runaway June. John Wayne’s granddaughter is in the group. Good harmonies.

We need legislation.

There should be a tax of $1 million per day on armed private personal security of any person in the entertainment industry or on a corporate board or foundation. Congress and the judiciary should be prohibited from obtaining any armed security. I’m really tired of hearing from nitwits about the evils of guns as they employ people with guns to protect them. Each presumed potential target may arm themselves.
