How’s your results with nylon? I’m printing model battleship detail parts (turrets, etc) in ABS at 255 degrees on my Prusa, and it’s going well, but I might be interested in nylon if it was user friendly/durable/etc.

(If not, I’ll just stick with ABS, it seems to get the job done.)

As for the ping list, count me in, if I’m not already.

Nylon can be difficult to work with, but is much stronger and more flexible than ABS or PLA.

Items I printed in ABS, like pads under furniture feet tend to break and not last long. Nylon is strong and lasts forever. A problem is that if you print with support structures you will spend a lot of time cutting it away. A bonus is that you can die it different colors after printing with clear nylon.

Concur with Roadcat, plus you have to keep the filament from absorbing moisture. If it does, it will need an hour or so in the oven to dry it back out.

That said, there are applications were only nylon will suffice, such as for use as a bearing/bushing, flexibility and strength for hinges, excellent layer adhesion, and so forth.

If you have moving parts on your models, nylon bushings or hinges made from nylon would be the way to go. Also, things like propellers, which might be subject to blades getting broken off, would be another great application.

I started out working with ABS. It has it's own set of characteristics which drive what its used for. However, have you tried the newer PLAs? They are easier to print at lower temps and can be more readily sanded and painted. I use PLA in making models for castings, and etc.
