The construction of Walmarts new corporate campus in Bentonville will take years to be achieved, and is just now in the early stages of development.
On Wednesday (Aug. 14), company officials provided a glimpse into what some elements of that design may one day look like.
Walmart held a grand opening for its new contact center at 2800 S. Thompson St. in Springdale. Employees have been working there for the past three weeks, following the completion of a massive remodel of a 130,000-square-foot building that was once a Sams Club store. It was most recently a layout center for Sams Club.
Company officials did not disclose the investment amount for the project. Nabholz Construction Corp. of Rogers used a building permit valued at $11.8 million to complete the redesign. Nielsen Architecture in Bentonville was the architect.
This feels like new Walmart; this feels like the next generation, said Mark Ibbotson, the executive vice president of U.S. central operations, who also heads up the retailers realty division. This facility is commensurate with the people who work in it. If we are going to invest in our people, this is how were going to do it.

Bttt
A big box converted to a call center probably isn’t a great place to work (not enough windows), and call centers are old hat, period.
Across the street from the Asian Amigo shopping center....
If it provides groceries, a roof over your head, clothing and other necessities there will be people applying for those jobs. BTW, do you know the average salary for a call center manager?
Cubicle-o-rama. You would need amenities to keep from goin kookoo...but it is a job....maybe walmart will pass bozos soon.
In fact, call centers are a fast-growing segment in the US as companies realize their customers will reward them for prompt, effective, English-speaking customer service people. Jobs here instead of in China or India, what’s wrong with that?
Average pay is $33K per year. That means a couple working in a call center can afford to buy a nice house. And it will have big beautiful windows.
MAGA!
Everybody can’t be Leonard and Sheldon.
They are looking for software engineers and cybersecurity of all kinds.
True
It will never be as interesting as Apples corporate headquarters in Cupertino, California.
And I love how Apple gets around the “everyone hates the India or Asia” speaker ...they use people in Canada.
Is that really a fair comparison? Apples and oranges.
You work in support for computers and software you can make $60,000+
Everyone sick of the Indian scamming call centers. I always request someone who speaks real English if I’m stuck talking to someone from India.
Duterte in the Philippines sucking Communist Xi’s dick and want the US-based call centers out. If fact, suggesting CHED (like the US DOE) adopt Mandarin instead of English for schools there.
Now is as good a time as any to bring these back to the US.
So Walmart will be going on a H1B Indian hiring spree. First Boeing, then Capital One. What can go wrong with unskilled, uneducated $9/hr Indians doing these types of jobs?
