So you don’t think disabled veterans, through their sacrifices and service deserve loan forgiveness?
The disability band wagon left the station quite a while back and we now have a huge number of people who would never have been considered disabled in previous generations. A large percentage of former military personnel have fallen into this trap. When they go to the VA they even have personnel counseling retired people to claim that they have PTSD so they can get more money even if they are not complaining about problems. Whenever people start depending on government handouts for their livelihood it is bad for them.
Of course not, I value their service and fully support the military. The left will use this as justification for $1.6 trillion in student loan forgiveness for everyone.
If they are truly disabled, I don’t think anyone has a problem with it. But there are already programs in place. And, the Post 9/11 GI Bill provides more money than most of them can spend, anyway, not just on tuition, it also pays BAH.
But, what do we do about all the disability fraud? What do we do about the guy that did 4-6yrs, gets out and claims he’s got a bad back and bad knees, but he’s doing Crossfit competitions every weekend.
Or as a psychologist I met at a shooting school, also a Vet and volunteers at a VA hospital, told me about the guys that are doing worse on cognitive skills test than someone with full blown Alzheimer’s and collecting over $3k a month, and then drive away from their session in their brand new F150 FX4.
I just got done reading some Facebook posts between two guys. One of them I work with and he’s built like a brick shithouse. Nothing wrong with him and the whole back and forth was about how to get rated to collect on this program.
