Finding a fried egg at a fast food franchise is rare. Like hens teeth.
At one time I think McDonald’s had some regional preferences that you could find.
I remember my wife riding with me when I was driving long haul. I stopped at a McDonald’s in Washington state so she could get the country ham biscuit she was craving. When she sat down to eat she found a thick slab of fresh boiled ham on her biscuit. She took it back to the counter and politely explained that she had requested COUNTRY ham on her biscuit. They looked at her like she had sprouted a third arm, they had no idea what cured country ham was. :)

Of the burger chains Hardees does have the best breakfasts. They use a traditional 28% mix for their sausage while McDonald’s uses a 42% mix. Thats 42% fat in every McDonalds sausage patty.

How does McD’s NOT toast an English muffin?
A lot of the menu items can be traced back to personal preferences of the old executives.
In 1972 McDonald’s needed a breakfast sandwich. Executive Herb Peterson was tasked with coming up with one. Peterson loved eggs Benedict but didn’t like his muffins toasted. The egg mcmuffin was born on an untoasted muffin.

The Filet O Fish came about because of Catholics forgoing meat on Fridays. The South Bend, IN store was particularly hard hit. The local franchise owner proposed a fish sandwich. Ray Kroc wanted to sell his Hula burger, a slice of grilled pineapple with cheese on a cold bun. The company sold the two for one month and the Hula burger quickly ended up in the garbage.

Most burger joints don’t used sliced bread so there isn’t equipment to toast it. Hardees has the Market Fresh sandwiches but again, no toaster.
You would think some enterprising franchisee would invest $20 in a cheap toaster.
