Or maybe a better solution would be to tell the UN

That the USA is giving them one year to get out of NY, at which time the USA is out of the UN.

We will establish a group of nations to join our new coalition, by invitation only and by adherence to our rules.

The permanent security council of our new organization, will consist of the USA. Period.

The invited nations must put two years worth of dues, upfront, subject to no refund, and if they don't like the rules, protect their own countries when trouble occurs.

FR was pro Bolton overwhelmingly for many years.
There is a long history of that.

I hope you intended that as hyperbole. That might describe the post Civil War campaign against the Plains Indians but other than that it hasn’t been the American way of waging war.

Bolton was a member of PNAC, the Project for a New American Century, founded by the worthless William Kristol.

This was a 1990s neocon think tank that believed in the magic of nation building, and the idea that as the World’s Lone Superpower America could transform the Middle East by taking over a country or two and turning them into good little imitation Americans.

The PNAC crew, like so many other prominent highly educated dimwits, didn’t believe that stuff like Islam and an ancient culture would be an impediment to transforming the Middle East into a clone of Kansas.

In 1998 the PNAC wizards issued an open letter to Bill Clinton urging him to invade Iraq and knock off Saddam Hussein. Slick Willy didn’t take the bait, but Dubya would and did. In fact Dubya was basically an honorary PNACer, and he employed a good number of them in his administration, including Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, John Bolton.

The American military definitely want to have allies when we go to war. But involving the UN is a whole different matter, and I doubt that you will find any enthusiasm for that idea.

HE WAS NOT "everybody's favorite". There are a lot of people who supported (and still do) President Trump because he was going to be the guy who talked directly to all world leaders and made good deals that created win/wins for everyone. The Powers That Be made it impossible for any like-minded person to put up with the manipulations.

President Trump had to choose from people who are part of the New World Order. We're always hopeful that an appointee will share President Trumps vision, and not be part of the coup. I doubt even President Trump realized how polluted DC is.

"That being said, I am still cleaning the coffee I spewed all over my keyboard while reading your opinion on the UN."

I do NOT have a high opinion of the UN. My point was that if the UN thinks there is a problem somewhere that needs a military response, then the UN can deal with it, and the US can decide whether or NOT to be a part of it.

I am sick of the US military being the policemen of the world and getting slammed no matter what we do, no matter whether we act, or don't act. I'm sorry for your keyboard, but it has you to blame, not me.

“Let’s cut the crap.”

Stop making absolute, categorical assertions about everyone on this site - especially if you want to be taken seriously.

I rarely commented about Bolton, here or elsewhere. When I did, I took a moderate attitude: I did not denounce him entirely, as some did (including here!), but I was wary of him as I was of anyone I regarded as a Neocon. In other words, I agreed with some of what he said, and disagreed with others - and I did not (and do not) consider him the very worst appointment Donald Trump has made.

Your thesis was a lie - and was libel. Period.

If you are going to presume to publish such a post, then first grow up, and write one as would a responsible adult.

(I am just cutting through YOUR crap.)

Pretty sure that is the point I was making. We seem to have come to believe war is something we can undertake sort of as a part time hobby. And we wonder why it ain’t working out so well. When you go to war thinking you can attain “limited goals” you are fooling yourself because your enemy may very well approach the whole thing in the old sense of the word. What then? When all you wanted were some limited goals and the enemy decides they want to kill every one of you?

IOW the point I was making is if you aren’t ready to kill every one of them, if that ain’t a goal, don’t go to war in the first place.
