Normal, Ill. (WEEK) We are about a year away from seeing self-driving vehicles on the road in Normal and industry leaders at Rivian Automotive say people should be excited for more jobs.
The future is now, or at least right around the corner for Rivian. On Sunday, residents got to see the pickup and SUV models with a glimpse of whats to come with the companys skateboard technology.
This was the first time the public and Governor JB Pritzker saw the models up close. Pritzker believes Rivian will boost our local economy.
Im thrilled though also for the people of Normal and for Illinois that we have manufacturing that is reviving in our state, said Pritzker. This is advanced manufacturing with an advanced vehicle thats the leader in the world.
Pritzker says Rivian will thrive in Normal with plenty of manufacturers staying in the area after college.

More are being hired for their Michigan plant.

I hate Illinois Nazis
Forget it Jake. It’s llinois.
There is an abnormal part near the side across the river from Iowa’s abnormal part.
Anybody who opens a new facility in Illinois is an idiot. The state is a sea of red as far as the eye can see, and as the producers leave for greener pastures, the blood-suckers will continue to milk as much as they can from revenue producers - with evil businesses as the easiest targets.
As the Mexican beer guy likes to say...
|"I don't always know what's new in cars, but when I want to know what's coming, I look at skateboards."|
If you follow the link below you will find that Illinois gets the same score for Tax Climate that Texas does: a "D".
Pickup? Minivan? Sedan? Put the body of choice on it and you're good to go. Hence the term "platform", just like most good designs where common building blocks reduce cost and time.
Well Pardon Me, BB.
Why would they call THAT “skateboard”? It’s a chassis and suspension components, for crying out loud. That’s what happens when you screw with the English language and co-opt good old words for new things. “Skateboard” my ass.
You are not thinking of East St. Louis are you? The Illanoy part of quad cities is no bargain either.
Texas has a future; Illinois, not so much. I’ll be happy to stick with my spew.
