They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. I think many readers of this article will respond with outrage, and many will see it says things they already knew to be trueand I think these two groups will largely overlap. The most powerful obstacle to confronting a destructive addiction is denial, and collectively we are in denial about pornography.
Since it seems somehow relevant, let me state at the outset that I am French. Every fiber of my Latin, Catholic body recoils at puritanism of any sort, especially the bizarre, Anglo-Puritan kind so prevalent in America. I believe eroticism is one of Gods greatest gifts to humankind, prudishness a bizarre aberration, and not so long ago, hyperbolic warnings about the perils of pornography, whether from my Evangelical Christian or progressive feminist friends, had me rolling my eyes.
Not anymore. I have become deadly serious. A few years ago, a friendunsurprisingly, a female friendmentioned that there was strong medical evidence for the proposition that online pornography is a lot more dangerous than most people suspect. Since I was skeptical, I looked into it. I became intrigued and kept following the evolving science, as well as online testimonies, off and on. It didnt take me long to understand that my friend is right. In fact, the more I delved into the subject, the more alarmed I became.
The central contention of this article is that, however we might feel morally about pornography in general, a number of features about pornography as it has actually existed for the past decade or so, with the emergence of Tube sites that provide endless, instant, high-definition video in 2006, and the proliferation of smartphones and tablets since 2007, is fundamentally different from anything weve previously experienced.
It ain't just horror stories, they sometimes are frighteningly real.
My father was married 6 times. My mother was married 4 times. My little brother was married 4 times. Next year, I'll be married once for 30 years. I guess I just got lucky. My hope is to reach my grandparents record. They were married for 80 years when my grandfather died.
My father used to tell me he had it down to a science. He said every five years he found a woman he really, really hates, and instead of marrying her...
...he wrote her a check for half of everything he owned.
As long as I am not infringing on the rights of a fellow citizen yes I can do whatever I please when I please. Whether its leftist that want to protect my health by banning big gulps or conservatives that are trying to protect me from porn they can both kiss my a&@.
There is no eliminating them, for sure. Prostitution is as old as the hills. Pornography goes back to ancient Egypt at least. But they don’t have to be encouraged by government. No one is going to suffer particularly if they are discouraged, either—unless they are organizing and profiting from it.
Part of the problem is that very few women know what sex before marriage and their popular choices in men physically do to them. They continue to give each other bad advice. The drug abuse problem compounds that problem.
The surge of romanticism into America in the 1800s was the beginning of the end of a good nation.
The increased demand for porn is driven by large-scale changes in female behavior.
Welcome to my world. I also think from time to time that IIIII may be the lucky one, not all the people getting the action. This whole sexually anarchistic world is pathetic.
LOL!
Love is not enough (although it does help).
While I both understand and largely comport, our forefathers truly adhered to a corporate rectitude that exceeds our standards and capabilities.
Masturbation is stupid. So what else is it for ?

Though I revere most of the founding fathers their society allowed people to own other people. If I had the choice of living in a society that allowed slavery or allowed pornography I would choose the pornography every time.
It wasn't just America that Romanticism infiltrated, I hope you understand this. Romanticism is a disease that has infected the entire world in the last 200 years or so. It has destroyed relationships in the pursuit of misty idealism. Almost every single romantic trope has led to misery in society, and yet, we have embraced these ideas whole-heartedly.
The advent of free internet video porn and smartphones wasn’t good for society. It’s sort of like how the poorest people are now the most likey to be obese, it’s a very new condition that has never happened before.

“But porn desensitizes a man and can cause ED”
This is the point. There are studies now about 20 year old men now unable to maintain erections and finding real human females uninteresting compared to what they’ve been desensitized to with too much porn.
This is so very sad. Not every woman is out to rape men in family court later. Some are truly seeking a nice husband and life partner, and some men are too—but their sexuality is now being ruined by too much porn.
It’s just an individual choice to avoid sin in general and—like most pleasurable things in life—indulgences like porn should be a rare treat and indulged in lightly, and addiction of all kinds should be avoided. It’s likely way too easy for men to get addicted to porn; I have 3 brothers and 3 sons and a husband and boy you guys are visual. God made you that way. :)
