They have been phased out for the most part. Too dangerous, I guess. Many have gone to the expandable metal baton (asp).

You can find them surplus online for less than $60.

That was my guess. I remember when my dad was issued one, about 1975. His department doesn’t carry them any more.
Old TV show made me think of it.
