John Bolton Denies ‘Coordination’ with New York Times After Book Details Leak
Breitbart ^ | January 27, 2020 | JOSHUA CAPLAN

Posted on 01/27/2020 3:13:10 PM PST by Hostage

A spokesperson for former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton denied Monday that he or his publishers coordinated with the New York Times after the newspaper published claims in his upcoming book about President Donald Trump and Ukraine.

“Ambassador John Bolton, Simon & Schuster, and Javelin Literary categorically state that there was absolutely no coordination with the New York Times or anyone else regarding the appearance of information about his book, THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED, at online booksellers. Any assertion to the contrary is unfounded speculation,” Bolton aide Sarah Tinsley said in a statement.

The denial comes after the Times reported that Bolton’s book alleges President Trump sought to make U.S. military aid to Ukraine conditional, in exchange for inquiries into “Democrats.”

******************************** The Times reported:

President Trump told his national security adviser in August that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by the former adviser, John R. Bolton.

The president’s statement as described by Mr. Bolton could undercut a key element of his impeachment defense: that the holdup in aid was separate from Mr. Trump’s requests that Ukraine announce investigations into his perceived enemies, including former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son Hunter Biden, who had worked for a Ukrainian energy firm while his father was in office.

Mr. Bolton’s explosive account of the matter at the center of Mr. Trump’s impeachment trial, the third in American history, was included in drafts of a manuscript he has circulated in recent weeks to close associates. He also sent a draft to the White House for a standard review process for some current and former administration officials who write books.

That’s what Rush Limbaugh said today.

He signed Comey’s Lawyer and Comey’s Publisher.

The Bolton quid pro quo account is a fabrication designed to promote book sales pure and simple. If anything the book should not be published before the election if it involves one man’s interpretations of conversations that should be classified in the first place.

Also, one could explore the possibility of quid pro quo in conversation, but to actually implement it, is another matter. I remember Trump in the TV show, “The Apprentice,” engaging in a conversation that is opposite of what he wanted. It was intended to draw out thinking that would expose the person’s desire to promote the undertaking. Trump gave the impression he was on board with the thinking, making the person think he was an ally. This was done to cause the person to let down their guard. Once the person exposed themselves, the words, “You’re fired!” rang out. We see what happened to Bolton.

Bolton had better deny the report and agree not to have the book published until after the election. Then, have the manuscript put under lock and key and all copies of it destroyed.

This whole Bolton story is a distraction to change the media narrative from Trump acquitted by Friday to let’s ignore the House’s terrible case and have the Senate call witnesses to prolong the story indefinitely thereby making more money for the media and damaging Trump’s re-election campaign. Trump was concerned globally with foreign aid going to corrupt governments. Ukraine and a dozen other countries were under review and Ukraine was approved for continuing funding before current funding expired. Biden corruption was already noted by many media sources.

It just sounds so incredible.

Rush is probably right.

The two articles I found on search listed a guy named Cooper as Bolton’s lawyer. Comey had three, and Cooper wasn’t one of them.

I didn’t look into the publishing company.

Bolton's former top deputy just shredded him:

https://thefederalist.com/2020/01/27/boltons-former-top-deputy-blasts-boltons-book-maneuvering-as-dangerous-and-inexplicable/

OF COURSE Bolton knew the book would leak. He gave it to the NSC to review! He knew the leaks of his book would help his book sales and hurt Trump. That's all he cared about.

And to think I once liked the guy very much. Bah!

As for all this "quid pro quo" nonsense, isn't "quid pro quo" the definition of "foreign policy"?

Again, not so fast. This is phrased carefully to look like more than it is.

(See picture of text)

“Preferred” being the key word here. In any case, the aid was sent on and there was no deal. No investigation. Trump sought materials they already had – not a new investigation.
Now the rest of the story and there’s less there than meets the eye.

Simon & Schuster is also Mark Levin's publisher.

Notice how this statement names the full title of the book and where to buy it. Advertising plug much? Might as well be a 10 second ad buy.

I don’t think we yet know any such thing.

These inflammatory reports by the NYT have a habit of not being what is initially represented.

Maybe Bolton is what is being described here...but we know the NYT publishes baseless articles to get everyone knee-jerking.

There are already bits to suggest the comments in the book are being re-appropriated, and that Vindman’s brothers hands are on it.

To write ANY book discussing in any part his time is government service, he is required to submit it to the NSC for vetting to make sure there is nothing subject to executive privilege or classification.

This leaking, if Bolton’s lawyers are to be believed, is the doing of LTC Vindman’s brother. There’s also reason at this time to believe the NYT is misrepresenting what it does say.

Maybe Bolton stabbed Trump in the back - or maybe the NYT and Vindman conspired to do it for him.

Of course, which is why Bolton should have waited to release the book at least until after the election. Instead, knowing that the book would leak, he raced to get it published, to maximize his take.
