You made a good choice, I hunt on the Great Plains and am not worried about hitting our tree with a long 24” barrel. It’s a good tree.
I have other means for long range. Including a 7mm Mauser and various other 30-06s in bolt and semiautomatic configurations. In a fairly clear environment I hit nary a tree. None over 22” and none so heavy that I can’t carry. But In my tree packed environment I have often carried nothing but a scope-less revolver and made it work.
